“Very fun place to take children”

We stopped off at these ruins as we traveled through Portugal and they ended up being a great place for our kids to run around. The ruins are huge and very spread out -- my 4 and 8 year olds were able to go right into the ruins and play in the ancient "kitchens" and other living areas - it really made the history of the area come alive (and gave them a much needed break from the car). The more delicate areas are blocked off -- but you can still get really close to things.There is a nice buffet inside the museum -- but I would recommend taking a picnic if you go with kids. Worth a stop over!
